The Rochdale Pioneers
The 1940s film, ‘Men of Rochdale’ is now seen as something of a classic. A docu-drama, it is the only film of its kind, detailing the origins of the co-operative movement and its Rochdale Pioneers.
It is the inspiring story of how a group of locals realised the power they had in working together to serve their community. They made a difference to their lives through co-operation and are widely seen today as the founders of what has become a global movement with millions of members.
Now, The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy plans to remake the film to bring the spirit of these pioneers into the new millennium, and tell their story to a fresh audience - and you can be a part of it!
